About Diana Y. Wang, MD, FACOG
Diana Wang, MD serves women from throughout Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas at Violet Crown OB/GYN. Dr. Wang has special interest and skill in minimally invasive surgery, including single-incision laparoscopic surgery, and is committed to staying on the cutting edge of advanced surgical techniques to better women’s health.
Dr. Wang is a long time Austinite who went to Westlake High School, then stayed on to be a Texas Longhorn, graduating from the Plan II Honors program at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wang went on to study medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency with the UTMB Austin program, and was one of the first Ob/Gyn resident physicians in the nation to be trained on the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Dr. Wang practiced as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Ob/Gyn residency in Austin where she was the Director of Skills and Simulation, and introduced Single Site Laparoscopic surgery into the program.
Dr. Wang was recognized with the 2011 National Faculty Award for Excellence in resident education presented by the UTSW Austin OB/GYN residency program, is the 2009 recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and is the 2022 recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award from HCA Healthcare.
As a former dancer with Ballet Austin, Dr. Wang continues to perform and choreograph in her leisure. She is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
